The Saint Hakob Church of Kanaker District of Yerevan is the oldest church of the district. It was built (or rebuilt) in 1679. It was mostly destroyed in the 1679 Yerevan Earthquake. The same year that it was destroyed, it was rebuilt through the donations of a wealthy Armenian living in Tbilisi known as Hakobjan.
