Karmravor Church Ashtarak
This is the 7th-century Karmravor Church (also known as St. Astvatsatsin, meaning "reddish" because of the color of its dome).
This church is a tiny cruciform planned (cross-shaped) church. It has a dome with an octagonal drum and a Byzantine-style red tile roof. Its decoration is simple with geometric and foliage patterns.
Amazingly, many of the original tiles on the roof which were laid on mortar have remained intact. It is the only known ancient church in Armenia with a fully preserved original roof!
