"Vayots Dzor was a ring without a jewel, but I built this monastery as the jewel for the ring" - Princess Sophia of Syunik.
We are now looking at the 10th century Gndevank Monastic complex in the Arpa River valley. It is a perfect place to visit on the way to Jermuk or heading to southern Armenia.
The main church dedicated to St. Stepanos, was constructed in 936AD. In 999 AD it was expanded with a gavit.
