Located only 5 km from the main highway on the east of Mt. Aragats and perched picturesquely on the top of a little hill on the bottom of the Kasakh river gorge you will find the Astvatsnkal Monastery. The main church of St. Nshan was built in the 12th century while the single nave St. Astvatsatsin church connected to the south was likely built in the 4th-5th centuries.
